Opsi_deptot Permissions and users?

I have opsi up and running but the issue i ran into was under the opsi depot none of the executables have permsssiong to be run! I had to chmod 777 service_setup script because it would say windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item!
Also i was wondering what the pcpatch users is for because when i install the client i seam to have to use my username which is opsiadmin to both mount the drive and after the install starts it prompts for a user id and password and the admin one is the only one that seams to work? When will the next release be available with support for ubuntu 14.04?

when i run the command to opsi-setup --set-rights it clears my chmod and now i cannot launch the service_setup.cmd file!!!!! Why does it not set the permissions correct and how do make the command set the permissions correctly?

I figured it out! I was running it on 14.04 so i dont have to upgrade when the new version is released and it is realated to samba version!
WHat will the upgrade process be to upgrade to ubuntu 14.04 and latest opsi?

Hello,
you should have the correct path to the stable repo in your sources.list.
And then you follow the instructions in the release notes (
here for testing)

How does the user pcpatch get used with opsi? is this password stored on the local machine? How easy is it for a end user to find this password? What is the difference from pcpatch to adminuser? pcpatch has read only access to the shares? How is client connecting to the share to get its packages??
Trying to figure out what is the best security practices for the different users!
