Exception in StartProcess_cp

Hi
We are having some problems with OPSI since last update.
One of the problems is that when we try to install a product on a client we get this in our error log:
Code: Alles auswählen
Exception in StartProcess_cp: Failed to execute "P:\pdfcreator\PDFCreator-1_7_3_setup.exe" /SP /VERYSILENT /NORESTART /LOADINF="P:\pdfcreator\pdf.inf" : 5
PDFCreator used as an example (it is not the only product which fails).
Another problem is when we try to install a netboot product - when we get to the "startnet.cmd" then we get an "Access is denied" error.
I looked at this post:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6620
which seems to be the same problem - I havent gotten an answer yet though :-/
I hope you have an idea as to what causes these problems.
If you need info on what version of OPSI we are using then you need to tell me how I can find the version-number, as it is not me who installs the server.
Regards,
Soren

Hello Soren,
sorry to hear you are having problems.
Did you only upgrade OPSI or did you upgrade the OS aswell.
If you did upgrade the OS aswell, what version are you running now?
With kind regards
Niko

Hello Niko,
First we upgraded all our Ubuntu servers from Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS to Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS, where one of the servers where our OPSI server.
The OS upgrade when without any problem, and at first OPSI also seemed fine - but later we found out that OPSI netboot products fail under install.
We have after that tried to update OPSI to the experimental repository for getting a "real" 14.04 repository - but that have not solved our problems.
Regards,
Lars

Hello Lars,
currently Ubuntu 14.04 is not supported by the current stable release. We are working on it for the upcoming release. The experimental repository can change quite frequently and may break things - please use this with great caution (and probably not in your live environment

).
Your problems seem to be caused by the change to Samba 4. You can try to run the following:
If it doesn't work you can search the forums regarding
Samba 4
In live environments we recommend to have a
support contract.
With kind regards
Niko

Hi again
I am afraid the errors persist :-/
Its a bit wierd - the packages which havent been updated since the server+opsi-upgrade arent affected by the "Exception in StartProcess_cp", and can install fine.
For a test i tried creating a new package as a copy of the "pdfcreator"-package, but when i try to use the "opsi-package-manager -i" I get this error:
New package, but copied files/scripts from old one
Code: Alles auswählen
root@opsi:/home/opsiproducts/test-pdfcreator# opsi-package-manager -i test-pdfcreator_1.0-1.opsi --force
Errors occured:
Failure while processing Install of package(s) /home/opsiproducts/test-pdfcreator/test-pdfcreator_1.0-1.opsi on depot 'opsi.domain.lan':
Backend error: Failed to install package '/home/opsiproducts/test-pdfcreator/test-pdfcreator_1.0-1.opsi' on depot 'opsi.domain.lan': Failed to execute package script 'preinst' of package '/home/opsiproducts/test-pdfcreator/test-pdfcreator_1.0-1.opsi': Command '/tmp/.opsi.unpack.2iEvK/OPSI/preinst' failed (127):
/bin/sh: 1: /tmp/.opsi.unpack.2iEvK/OPSI/preinst: not found (error on server)
Note: We also subscribe to packages from UIB - this morning we got Java 7u67, which installed fine.
Regards,
Soren

Hello Soren,
this is an strange error. Do you have enough free space on the server?
As of the other error I still think it may be a rights problem.
One thing thats IMHO worth trying is to remove the opsi_-shares from your smb.conf and then run opsi-setup --auto-configure-samba again.
Before you do this please make sure that you backup you smb.conf and update opsi-depotserver to the latest version.
With kind regards
Niko

Hi,
opsi is not released for Ubuntu 14.04 right now.
It will be released with opsi 4.0.5.
Ubuntu 14.04 comes with a (reduced) samba 4 which changes the behavior of the samba shares which lead to problems, if you have no special samba share configuration.
So please wait for opsi 4.0.5 before any update to Ubuntu 14.04 on your opsi servers.
