OPSI unter FreeNAS in Betrieb nehmen

Guten Morgen zusammen,

FreeNAS runs with FreeBSD.. Running OPSI in a jail might work, if you compile it for your machine.
I would advise you to run VirtualBox in a jail, and use that to run OPSI on GNU/Linux. I think the maintenance will be much less that way.

Hey "Sister"
i am very glad to hear that.
I understand your point. It sounds like VirtualBox is the choice here.
So there is no need for recompiling Opsi once an update is out
and opsi can be updated within the known Environment.
Thank you very much.

FreeNAs 9.2.0-RC has just been released including lots of new features.
The Following is very interesting
* A jails templating system has been added, allowing the quick deployment of
new jails from existing templates and the ability to create custom templates.
Linux jail support has also been added and installation templates are included
for
Debian-7.1.0,
Gentoo-20130820,
Ubuntu-13.04,
Centos-6.4,
Fedora-19,
Suse-12.3.
My Question to the opsi Developers.
Is it possible to install opsi under one of these Systems?
Thank you very much.

Thank you for that hint.
I am going to test it inside a Debian 7.1.0 jail...
In ubuntu i got some Error Messages right from the beginning.

For better support of the current Debian you can try the experimental repository:

We do not have any prior experience with OPSI running inside a FreeBSD jail. Support for it is not planned but using their OS templates could work.
Kind regards
