I would like confirmation about creation, storage, and restoration of windows images :

- We create it with boot product (ntf write image).
- Apply it with boot product (ntf restore image).
- Their default storage is /var/lib/opsi/ntf-images.

Is it right ?

Is it possible to import new images from other software (like clonezilla), to deploy it on computers ? (modify the image file in /configed)

Hi,

to 1: yes, thats all right. The default storage is controlled over product-properties. Have a look on it.

to 2: The newest opsi-linux-bootimage versions (in Experimental-Repository) contains the clonezilla scripts. This is the first step to give the users the possibility to use clonezilla-Images without to boot an extra iso-file. But we have no netbootproduct to use this feature, this part is under construction. But feel free to try yourself, if you have any results, we will be happy if you can share your results and work with us an the community.

and last but not least, we are working on enhanced OS-Deployment over Images for opsi. The proof of conecpt paper is written and now we try to clear the financing for this project. If you are interested to help with money for this project, feel free to contact us directly over info(at)uib.de. Then we can give you more informations about these project.

Another question, I have some doubt about "ntfs-restore-image" : If I have, for exemple, 2 images on my OPSI server in /var/lib/opsi/ntfs-images (the default directory), how can I, when I install the netboot product "ntfs-restore-image" on a computer, choose one of them ? (except to connect on the OPSI server at /configed and change the "image file" property for "ntfs-restore-image" in netboot product) Is there any selection menu to choose between storages images at pxe boot ?
