we are pleased to announce the official release of the latest version of opsi today.
Important notes:
- The new opsiconfd no longer accepts the `run-as-user` option in the configuration file and requires newer versions of MariaDB or MySQL.
- The Python package `opsicommon` has now also been replaced by the new package `opsi` in `opsi-python`, as already done for opsi-cli in the last release.
- With the new opsi-script, the window of the executing interpreter is no longer just minimized but completely hidden for ExecWith sections and the powershellcall functions.
The new audit log records authentications, logouts, expired sessions, terminal actions, and product action requests, among other events. It is available via the API and the admin interface. In addition, new filtering, sorting, and configuration options, including the retention period, are now available. The new feature is available now in OPSI Enterprise and OPSI Cloud.
The admin interface has received a redesigned look with an improved header, loading indicators, localized date display, and optimized sorting and filtering.
The maximum number of sessions per IP is now set to `100` by default. Exceptions configured via `max-sessions-excludes` now also support network addresses and domain names.
Keep-alive connections now have a configurable timeout. The default value has been increased from 5 to 30 seconds.
Internal service URLs for Redis, MySQL, and Grafana can now be generated automatically from Docker-like environment variables.
The minimum database requirements have been raised. opsiconfd now requires MariaDB version `10.2` or later, or MySQL version `5.7.8` or later.
The `run-as-user` option is no longer allowed in the configuration file. This setting may now only be set via a command-line parameter or an environment variable.
In addition, the new version includes a number of bug fixes.
opsi-utils
As already done for opsi-cli in the last release, the Python package `opsicommon` has now also been replaced by the new package `opsi` in `opsi-python`.
Scripts that use opsi-python will probably need to be adapted.
The opsi-utils also include the new version of opsi-cli.

Product Cache Soft and Hard Limits
- Changed product cache size handling from a single fixed limit to separate soft and hard limits.
- Added `productcachetarget_size`, which defines the preferred cache size. The cache service tries to clean up old, unneeded products to stay near this value.
- `productcachemax_size` is still treated as the hard limit. The product cache may temporarily grow beyond the target size when needed, but not beyond this maximum.
- Updated the default product cache target to 10 GB and the hard maximum to 100 GB.
- Increased the minimum required free disk space for product caching to 10 GB for Windows and 5 GB for Linux and macOS.
- If a network error occurs while caching a product, the operation is retried up to two times.
The 4.3.48 release is a major milestone for the opsi-WebGUI. The application has been extensively reworked and modernized, including a complete update of its underlying architecture. This results in a faster, smoother, and more responsive user experience, with significant improvements to usability and accessibility, including enhanced keyboard navigation and better screen reader support.
This release brings a new Dashboard, improved data tables with better filtering and bulk actions, enhancements to groups, improved diagnostics, safer handling of unsaved changes, smarter navigation, and numerous performance, stability, and security improvements.
opsi-configed
- In tables and lists you can switch to the search bar with CTRL+F
- You can move clients to other depots with drag & drop
The new opsi-linux-bootimage is based on Ubuntu 26.04 with Linux kernel 7.1.0 and therefore provides improved support for current hardware.
ubuntu26-04
With this release, we are publishing a netboot package for ubuntu26-04. Additionally, the netboot package "ubuntu" and the localboot package "l-debuntu-upgrade" now support ubuntu26-04. In the ubuntu26-04 package, the ProductProperty "desktop_package" has been removed — please use the localboot package "l-desktop" instead.
opsi-cli
Issues in the areas of plugin permissions and session caching have been fixed. Additionally, "client-action set-action-request --where-outdated" is now more efficient and the behavior of "package fetch --properties=keep" has been corrected.
uib Package Subscriptions
As you may know, uib offers update subscriptions for Microsoft patches, standard products, and various individual packages (abo-plus) (see https://opsi.org/en/services/update-subscriptions/). Presumably in Q3 2026, we will restructure the associated repositories for these update subscriptions in order to improve software package delivery performance. In the course of this, it will be necessary to adjust the configuration of the opsi-package-updater. We will send all customers a corresponding configuration file along with instructions prior to the changeover.
