Test Failed

Beitrag von icebox »

I already setup the opsi server on debian OS. I tried to test a pc and get the information inside of that pc (HW/SW inventory). I try your procedure, first I create a test client which is IBM 8124 model, then in opsi under netboot i choose hwinvent and choose setup, then I reboot WS and using PXE the first boot and the hwinvet should be started, but nothing happen. After the reboot, in product configuration i choose hwaudit and swaudit and setup as the request action then reboot the client, but the hwaudit and swaudit should be started but nothing happen.. I just want to know if there's an easiest way to deploy to all clients and then they will report to server (like in OCS), or other way. i followed your instruction from installation on debian to follow the test pc. but nothing happen. i just want to test your application so that if i like it and we can get all the innformation of pc and we can use the patch management, I will propose this application to our management. we have 5k+ client (no. of pc). I hope you can assist me to work this application. Thanks in advanced

hwaudit and swaudit are, so called, localboot products.
You need an installed preloginloader on your client to run such products.
hwinvent is a netboot product.
The client needs to be started via pxe-boot.
If the pxe-boot does not work please post more detailed information about your environment.
DHCP-Server, PXE-server, what happens on the client if you try a pxeboot...

I can ping the PC
Firewall already disabled even the simple file sharing
but, got this error when I tried to use preloginloader.

[error] ERROR: Failed to mount clients c$ share: Command '***********************' failed (255):
mount error: could not find target server. TCP name ho29a28/c$ not found
No ip address specified and hostname not found

Perhaps you have to disable the firewall or simple file sharing on the windows machine (folder options)?

is there a missing lib to map the c$ on debian?

You can install the preloginloader from the network share.
Log-in, open \\opsiserver\opt_pcbin\install\preloginloader in the explorer, and run service_setup.cmd

I did that and say's

'\\172.16.111.111\preloginloader'
CMD.EXE was started with the above path as the current directory.
UNC paths are not supported. Defaulting to Windows directory.
.

!! !!
!! Die Installation kann nicht direkt vom Netz ausgefuehrt werden !!
!! Bitte Freigabe erst als Netzlaufwerk verbinden !!

.
Press any key to continue . . .

after I press any key nothing happen.. the CMD screen will disappear, then i try to see the services.smc if there's a additional added services but its nothing.. Sorry to ask this but I can't understand the sentence inside the box.. so, I don't know if there's an error or what... thanks

Did you really download the preloginloader version I linked in my post?
In Older versions than 3.4-61 you will have to connect the share to a drive first:
  • Open \\server in explorer
  • Right-click on opt_pcbin
  • Connect as network drive (i.e. X:)
  • Open X:\install\preloginloader in explorer
  • Double-click service_setup.cmd
  • If asked for a username and password use an account which is member of the opsiadmin group on the server (i.e. root)
