New user issues

Hi all,

I've just installed OPSI ( server (VM) and two clients ( harware ) ) as per the manual and after a little problem with the client firewalls I think i've got it running to a point.

I can see the clients from the server when using posi-configed and I can send a pop-up message to both clients.

However when i try to follow the steps to install 'hwaudit' either nothing appears to hapen or the client pops up a window that says it cant connect to the server ( incidentally it only does this wehn the user is not logged in ).

Also, on windows clients I assume it need to be installed as administrator ?

Any ideas where i'm going wrong ?

I'd like to get this working as I want to buy this product to make my maintenance life easier

Hello,

Please take a look at the log file c:\opsi.org\log\opsiclientd.log on the client.
There should be a detailed error message about the connection error.

Thanks for the reply - found the problem, was missing a DNS entry for the server on the main firewall so the name couldn't be resolved.

All fixed now.
