Problems deploying Windows 7 [Solved]

Hi

I'm probably missing some step because the system won't install.

Here's what I did so far:
- downloaded and configured (1st boot) OPSI server
- run on server: opsi-product-updater -i -vv
- my netboot product is win7-x64
- followed steps described on 4.3.6.1 from getting-started pdf
- modified Administrator's password (4.3.6.3)
- and also copied the install files to respective folder (4.3.6.5)
Everything went fine.

So, now I'm booting the target host. I fill the required information and select win7-x64. The disk is formated and some files are copied (no errors). The host reboots and I'm presented with a command line window that executes

wpeinit

The command ends and nothing happens.

C drive has the installation files
boot.sdi ~ 3GB
and two more files with ~1.7GB


Any suggestions?

did you create / copy a winpe to your server?

Yes, I followed every instruction from 4.3.6 except: "Extending a PE" and "Driver Integration"

what is the exact message you are seeing?
Another problem could be missing drivers. I.e. Dell are candidates known for needing special drivers.
If you are able to test this on another hardware (best: different vendor) please do so to make sure that it is a drivers problem.

Aren't these spambots just a bunch of cunts?

I stopped 'getting' spam around the 2000's. Afterwards it were more and more inane messages that did not seem to want to sell anything at all.

If you are able to test this on another hardware (best: different vendor) please do so to make sure that it is a drivers problem.

This would be my advice for now.
If virt-manager is available for your system you could use this to emulate other Hardware.

Hi,

I had the same problem. After using a win7 pe, in stead of win8 pe everything went well

I tried both: Windows 7 and Windows 8. None could boot.

The problem is probably with the versions I downloaded. I downloaded Windows 7 from another site, and now it works.
