show_drivers.py - Broken list

Beitrag von mlebeda »

Hello,
anyone faced problem with hwaudit (winst), czech Windows 7 x64 and script for showing drivers? After installation OS, succesful HWaudit will write to Hardware inventory czech characters which dont like script ./show_drivers.py:

Code: Alles auswählen

nicemi PCI reĹžimu Bus Masterwin7-x64# ./show_drivers.py tali-test-w7.ups.ucn.muni.cz
No driver - device directory '/opt/pcbin/install/win7-x64/drivers/pciids/8086/7191' not foundpsi/modules'
   [15AD:0405] VMware, Inc. : VMware SVGA 3DAS 3000 series, 8 portĹŻ s rozhranĂm 1068
      Manually selected [vmw] /opt/pcbin/install/win7-x64/drivers/drivers/additional/vmw/Display/VMware SVGA 3Dr, SAS 3000 series, 8 portu - 1068
[15AD:0740] VMware, Inc. : VMware VMCI Bus Device: Most standardu PCI mezi sbÄCI Bus Device/oem2.inf]
Manually selected [vmw] /opt/pcbin/install/win7-x64/drivers/drivers/additional/vmw/System/VMware VMCI Bus Device
Multiple selected [vmw] /opt/pcbin/install/win7-x64/drivers/drivers/additional/vmw/System/VMware VMCI Host Device
      [/opt/pcbin/install/win7-x64/drivers/drivers/additional/vmw/SCSIAdapter/LSI Adapter, SAS 3000 series, 8 portu - 1068/lsi_sas.inf]
USB-Devices/pcbin/install/win7-x64/drivers/drivers/additional/vmw/Mouse/VMware Pointing Device/oem6.inf]
   No devices installed
PCI-Devices
HD-Audio-Devices(StandardnĂ systĂŠmovĂĄ zaĹĂzenĂ) : KoĹenovĂ˝ port sbÄ
   No devices installed
In Hardware information in configed is everything fine. After hwinvent via netboot is "show.drivers.py" back working. Any suggestions?

Another question - If I want use drivers "byAudit" i cant see its applied. My procedure of finding information is the following:
Check in Hardware information item "Computer" subitem "vendor" (VMware, Inc.) and "model" (VMware Virtual Platform). So i copy drivers in folder "byAudit\VMware, Inc.\VMware Virtual Platform". After that I run opsi-setup --set-rights and ./create_driver_links.py. Is there problem with "." in "VMware, Inc." directory?

Thanks for this bugreport. I also see a problem with a vmware guest: showdrivers.py ok after hwinvent, showdrivers.py not ok after running hwaudit. I submit a ticket in our internal bugtracker

Hi,
name of Netboot product is "win7-x64" and path to by audit drivers is:
\opt\pcbin\install\win7-x64\drivers\drivers\additional\byAudit\VMware, Inc.\VMware Virtual Platform\

Can i have question how byAudit works? Its automatically connected to present computers or i must first copy drivers, then create new computer in opsi which matches model and vendor?

I'm not sure if had understood your question. But the 'byAudit' method uses the inventory data to find the matching driver directory.
According to the fact, that every opsi OS installation first makes a hardware inventory it works on every in your system existing client.

Does this help ?

Hi,

show_drivers.py Outputs are in unicode. The Output looks like an putty with wrong translation. If you use putty please be sure that you have in Configuration from Putty: Window -> Translation -> Received data assumed to be in which character set: UTF-8

By default this option is set to ISO-8859-1: 1998 (Lating-1, West Europe).

With the default settings most of the opsi outputs (like opsi-newprod, ....) looks very ugly.

So is it possible to assign drivers by vendor and model of the PC automatically? So far I have been unsuccessful. We buy more machines that are the same HW configuration. After saving the driver in this path, nothing happens (./show_drivers.py does not show byAudit drivers): "./drivers/drivers/additional/byAudit/Hewlett-Packard/HP Compaq 6300 Pro MT". My point is to do driverpack for same type of computers. Print of hwaudit is below:

Yes, that is possible.
./show_drivers.py should show the byAudit drivers, on top of the list. If not, try to run opsi-setup --set-rights ./ in the drivers directory.
Or perhaps you have an OPSI installation that is not up to date?

Why would you make a driverpack? It seems like a lot of work, and OPSI can already select the correct driver itself.
I keep the latest version of the various drivers in the preferred directory. If a computer needs a special driver, a modified driver or a legacy driver it will end up in the byAudit directory. This saves a lot of time, because most of the time the drivers for a specific computer are already in the preferred directory and I don't have to spend time to get the correct drivers.

Also, do not forget some system manufacturers are idiots. Hardware audit returns the vendor to be 'System manufacturer', the model to be 'System Product Name' and the serial number to be 'System Serial Number'. In other words: don't buy asus!

Thank you for the information. I overlooked that I have an old version netboot products. Everything now works as it should. Now, it is easier for me to create a package of drivers, because we buy large quantities of the same computers. (HP, DELL)
