Re: need help to get client ip address
Moinsens,
well, opsi is no product "out of the box". It's not enough to download it, unpack it and start it and all functions well, like you need it. There is several work to do, because opsi is very individual, belonging to the network and the futue use. From a single installation-server for shops, who install OS and software on new PCs for their customers to big companies with thousands clients and facility all over the world.
Using opsi means you definetely need knowledge about Linux and it's handling. You will go lost without these knowledge and it is assumed, that you have this knowledge, when you start with opsi.
The best tip I can give you is to go thru the chapters of the "Getting Started" very accurate. The ip-adress of your opsi-server is the one YOU have defined for it, in first case (local network use) it shold be a class-c-adress, something like 192.168.x.x, but you also can use a virtual machine by installing VMWare Player and downloading the virtual machine "opsi-depotserver 4.0.2".
If you have finished all of the "Getting Started", so you should be able to start the configed on the opsi-depot-server and you should be able to ping your opsi-depot-server from another machine. After installing the opsiclient (chapter 4.2 in "Getting Started") and installing the basic packages of opsi you should be able to configure the first "on demand" installation in the configed of the opsi-server.
Without a exact description of your problem nobody will be able to help in a really helpful way... sorry, but I hope, that my few tips will help you to restart your project and to be successful then...
