UEFI changing boot order

Firstly i want again to thank you for solving stuck problem.
Now second and i pray last problem: We are getting more and more computers with UEFI mainboards. Problem is when i run opsi OS installation it changes the boot order on destinated computer station. Only possible configuration is:
1. PXE boot
2. Legacy: HDD
After reboot OPSI changes boot order something like that:
1. UEFI: HDD
2. PXE boot
3. Legacy: HDD

It changes boot order after first reboot. (integrate drivers, copy setup files,etc - loaded opsi boot image) It does the same thing if installation reboot second time. (Windows installation) Is any possibility to totally disable UEFI check in OPSI to prevent this order change?

One general answer is: Many things around UEFI belongs to your BIOS. And these BIOS behavior and the possible settings seems to be vary different at the moment. So with what Vendor / Model / BIOS Version you are working ?

Hi,

just read uefi support few days ago. Have not found how to disable uefi enabling.

Mainboards are with lastest bios:
Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2PV (FE Bios) and GA-H61MA-D3V (F4 Bios).

Really is not any option to total disable UEFI in opsi and work only in legacy mode?

Hi,

if there is no possibility to disable uefi mode and you want to work with Legacy PXE boot,
you should try the following:
In the winpe directory of your netboot product (e.g. win7-x64) remove the directory 'EFI'.

If UEFI is enabled and the BIOS find this directory it will boot the winpe using UEFI.
In this case the windows installation is in UEFI mode and the setup.exe will change the boot sequence in the UEFI BIOS.

Please give feed back if this hint works for you.

Brilliant, this suggestion works on those mainboards. Fix is to remove "EFI" directory from 32-bit and 64-bit and "bootmgr.efi" from 64-bit winpe directory. It looks like OPSI installation changes boot order at copy install files to disk with opsi -> auto reboot -> continues installation OS with changed boot order in bios -> after reboot is boot order back to the expexted (ok) order. Havent found yet cure for windows XP, but its not essential for us on UEFI MBs.

It looks like OPSI installation changes boot order

opsi it self does here nothing (if you do not boot the opsi-uefi-bootimage).
It is part of way how UEFI works:
For example if tell your uefi-bios to boot uefi from a usb stick and you have the opsi-uefi-bootimage there,
the bootimage will prepare the disk, copy the winpe and tell the bios that the now the winpe should be bootet.
So the system will next time boot the winpe which starts the windows installation which tell the bios to boot next time the installed windows.

Because uefi boot is only relevant for 64Bit OS there is no need to think about your xp.

Strange, that boot order has changed in opsi installation Windows XP too.
