OPSI cluster
Hello,
we are trying to create a failover cluster made from two independant OPSI servers. So far we have encountered problems with editing all configuration files containing IP adress and NS records, as we need this server to work on two adressess at once. Therefore I have two questions:
Do you have any suggestions or best practise concerning the creation of the OPSI cluster?
Is there a simple way of changing all related configuration files in order to make the server work simultaneously on two IP adressess and DNS names?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you

Re: OPSI cluster
simple Question:
Why do you want to create a failover cluster for a non "critical" server system?
IMHO is a working backup system and a disaster recovery more useful as an OPSI failover cluster

Re: OPSI cluster
Mainly because of the wide impact of the OPSI in our environment. Our user base is considerably big, as well as number of technical employees regularly using this system.
In the context of the service, of which is unattended installation one of the main features, is this functionality critical as much as any other. I agree that recovery is an easy solution in case of the server crash. However, we do not want to depend on manual recovery of the server, but rather create a failover cluster to make this service more reliable.
At this point is failover cluster a "must have" feature.

Re: OPSI cluster
Hi Antol,
we have experience with clustering of opsi. We have build a failover cluster for a customer. But our experience is, that this is not so easy, so I would suggest you to buy support.
When you have an support contract, please open a support ticket for that.

Re: OPSI cluster
If you want OPSI server into test one (change the server name and IP). What changes do I need to do or just run a built-in OPSI command? It would be nice to know...

Re: OPSI cluster
Hi, how about the agents. How will the agent connect to the other server? I believe there's a PC host key in the .conf file? Any handling procedure on the database?
