opsi service problem

Beitrag von Space_Cowboy1985 »

Hi,

Im unable to add any new clients to opsi. If I try through pxe boot, I get an authentication not sent error. If I run the opsi client agent on a machine it gets to the part were it asks me for the username and password. But it wont accept them, even though I know there right.

Ive checked the log file and I get the following.
Execution of opsiservicecall_authenticated
[6] [13/12/2012 15:50:35] "method": "authenticated"
[3] [13/12/2012 15:50:51] Error: retrieveJSONObject --- opsi service problem ----> unexpected Result from webservice in retrieveJSONObject, number of lines: 0
[3] [13/12/2012 15:50:51] Error: retrieveJSONObject --- opsi service problem ----> unexpected Result from webservice in retrieveJSONObject, number of lines: 0
[5] [13/12/2012 15:50:51] opsi Server Version :
I've been googling away but nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

are you able to logon at the opsi-Management interface with this account ?
Do existing clients have any problem ?
Do you see the authentication request in the /var/log/opsi/opsiconfd/<ip of the client>.log ?

Re: opsi service problem

Beitrag von Space_Cowboy1985 »

Ok so today things changed a little bit, Im not sure why as Ive made no changes what so ever. Existing clients appear to be working fine today. I continued to try and register a new client, I got a bit further this time when installing the client, it went passed the credentials bit but later on gave me a could not get hostkey aborting error. The log has a lot more info in this time round and I have attached. I tried to pxe boot when I entered the admin creds I got the following error
opsi authentication error: application 'opsi linux bootimage 20120728' on client 'ip address' did neither supply session id nor password (error on server)
I looked in the logs and the clients ip address was present this time heres the output

Re: opsi service problem

Beitrag von d.oertel »

Hi,

please have a look at your
/opt/pcbin/install/opsi-client-agent/files/opsi/cfg/config.ini
In the section [general] there is a enty 'dnsdomain' which is nor, ally patched to the actual domain name while installing the opsi-client-agent package at the opsi server.
It looks like there ist still the valu '<dnsdomain> instead of a valid value.

Does this help ?

Re: opsi service problem

Beitrag von Space_Cowboy1985 »

Hi,

I had just stumbled across that and had changed it before your suggestion. This did let me install the service, but it didnt work afterwards. As the existing clients had mysteriously started to work again, I tried a couple of new machines that I had to set up. Everything was back to normal with no issue.

I then changed the ip address of the machine still having issues and removed it from the opsi database and was able to get it to work also. I imagine that because that particular machine was the one that I was trying to add when the service starting acting up, that there must of been some records relating to the IP that were causing confusion.

At the moment everything is working like a charm, I dont have a clue though what went wrong with the service in the first place or why it started up again, it had been problematic for over a week and I did nothing to resolve the issue.

I hate a problem that fixes itself more than the actual problem, it makes me nervous. Oh well I dont think theres much more I can do about it now, bar make a backup while its happy and keep an eye on it.

Thanks for all your help.

Happy Holidays
