OS upgrade to for newer winst version ?

Beitrag von Koenraad »

Hi,

I'm running ubuntu 10.04 with opsi.
Some scripts seem to need a newer version of winst than I have (4.10.8.7 according to the web-interface), although I regularly update my packages.
In another thread I have seen a reference to release notes (http://download.uib.de/opsi4.0/testing/ ... tes-en.pdf) stating the needed operating system for the latest opsi. There is written I need ubuntu 12.04.
So would upgrading my ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 work to get that new winst ? And how would I deploy that, since I think winst is installed when you install the opsi-client for the first time.

Thanks,

Koenraad Lelong.

Hi,
There is written I need ubuntu 12.04.
Not at all !
opsi 4.0.2-2 is the first release with official support for Ubuntu 12.04.
It will still run at 10.04.
For an exact list of supported server systems you should consult the Getting-Started manual.

OK, so it's not needed to upgrade the OS, but what about Opsi itself ?
In the script templates I "downloaded" the scripts for Adobe Reader. Unfortunately, I can't use it because I need a newer wInst I don't have.
And if I get a new version, how do I deploy it ?

Hi,

if you are running opsi 4, you may just install the opsi-winst_4.11.3.3-1.opsi package at your opsi-server.
It will deployed autoamataically to the clients.

If you are running opsi 3 you have to upgrade to opsi 4 first (because opsi-winst 4.11.3 is not opsi 3 compatible).

But you should upgrade your complete opsi infrastructure (server and clients) to the opsi 4.0.2-2 release soon.

Hi,

I'ts been some time, but now I have time to look into this further.
You mention I could install the opsi-winst_4.11.3.3-1.opsi package. I tried to via aptitude but I didn't find it.
Trying to do an update resulted in some problems I think :

Code: Alles auswählen

Negeer http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-security/restricted Translation-nl

"Negeer http://... is : "Ingore http://... I don't know what the exact translation is of "Getroffen" but I thinks it's something like "Concerns" or "it's about". I tried to update the key of OpenSuse, but that seems not the problem.

I don't know what's wrong.

Tanks,

Hi,

I'm sorry for the late reply, but unfortunately, I can't spend enough time on opsi.

After your last post, I was able to get a newer version of winst installed on the opsi-server. If I click on Winst in the Product Configurator in the Opsi Config Editor, I see version 4.11.3.3-1 in the right pane. As far as I know that's the available version. But in the middle pane, where I can select what to install, I see the older version, 4.10.8.7-1. As far as I can tell, the automatic deployment does not work. And I can't manually install it either. When I click on the field to select the action, there is noting available.

What am I doing wrong ?

you must set an action request for the client. for example it's enogh to switch swaudit to setup. The next time, when the client connects to the server, opsi-winst should be upgraded automatically. If not, please check the opsiclientd.log for errors.

Hi,

That seems to have done it. I should verify on other PC's, but on my own PC I now have the latest Wint-version.

Thanks for your help.
