we are pleased to announce the official release of the latest version of opsi today.
The February 2026 release of OPSI mainly delivers fixes and small improvements that make day-to-day operation more stable and simplify individual workflows.
opsi-client-agent
Several issues have been resolved in the opsi-client-agent.
On Windows, setting file permissions is now more robust and automatically retried when necessary to avoid errors.
On Linux, the use of proxies for WebSocket connections to the OPSI message bus works more reliably.
In addition, further minor fixes improve overall stability.
opsi-package-updater
The opsi-package-updater now handles sensitive information more carefully.
Secrets in product properties are masked in logs and are no longer visible in log files.
The updater also supports BLAKE3 hashes for verifying OPSI packages.
Detection of whether web servers support range requests has been corrected and now works more reliably.
opsi-makepackage
Control file generation in opsi-makepackage has been adjusted.
Dependencies without an explicit type are now handled correctly, resulting in more consistent package creation.
opsi-configed
An issue has been fixed where no connection to the OPSI message bus could be established when the server was using a port other than 4447.
opsi-cli
The new option `--where-not-installed` for the command `client-action set-action-request` now allows you to select all products that do not have the status `installed`.
l-system-update
The l-system-update module now also supports updates for Flatpak applications.
This allows affected systems to be updated more comprehensively.
Netboot Products Debian
The default setting for the desktop package in Debian netboot products has been changed.
Instead of `standard`, the value `none` is now used, to configure that no desktop environment should be installed.
Netboot Products Windows
For Windows netboot products, the patching process of the unattend.xml has been simplified.
Kernel parameters and parameter files are now processed by `patcha` in a single step, avoiding misleading error messages in the logs.
opsi und UCS
Since UCS 5.0 will no longer be supported by Univention after February 5, 2026, we are discontinuing support for UCS 5.0. The repositories will remain open for the time being. After this release, we will no longer publish an opsi app for UCS 5.0 and 5.1. Only the app for UCS 5.2 will then be available. Of course, we will continue to support our support customers with the migration.
