[SOLVED] M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD / Win10-X64 / UEFI / No harddisk found

Hi all,

I would like to share my experience when it comes to deploying the Win10-X64 UEFI on clients with M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD.

I miss the log, but here is the thing.

Wanted to deploy the Win10-X64 on Dell Precision Tower 3420 containing the M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD

UEFI Boot starts, ELILO.efi is loaded, Confirmation of installation (F12), OPSI Boot image starts and on the very beggining (Hardware scan) I receive an error "No harddisk found".

Back in UEFI, take a look what's going on, disk is in there, it's readable and everything.

After the 2 hours of troubleshooting, to cut the long story short, this is the solution.

1.) Boot into the UEFI Settings

2.) Settings=> System Configuration => SATA Operation

Default value was RAID ON which means that the SATA is configured to support RAID mode (Intel Rapid restore Technology)

I changed it to the AHCI, reboot the device, problem solved.

I still don't get it what does the SATA Operation have to do with the M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD?

PCIe is not equal to the SATA, AFAIK. :D

Anyway, Hard disk is found. :)

There are also M2 drives that are AHCI.

If you're sure you have an NVMe drive then it is indeed PCIe.

100% Sure that it's NVMe.

Just wanted to share the solution with you guys, in case if you stumble upon on such a problem. :)
