Hi,
I am having problem while Windows XP installation on my Dell 280. Linux part is ok but the setup stops working during network installation and configuration. I was trying to use old drivers from unattended which are working there and I also tried new drivers as well. Do you know where the problem can be? I am starting to be hopeless that it can work.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Pavel

what does tis exactly means?paja hat geschrieben:Linux part is ok but the setup stops working during network installation and configuration.
- please post/check the bootimage-log of the client and the output of showdrivers.py <fqdn of client>
- check client memory size
- try some of kernel parameters like acpi=on/ off:
Select the client in configed and go to host parameter tab.
Select Property opsi-linux-bootimage.append and add the parameter your are testing

Re: Problem with Dell OptiPlex 280
First part of installation is done in linux, Windows installation itself starts after the first restart and this Windows part stops working during network setup which comes after hardware installation.wolfbardo hat geschrieben:what does tis exactly means?paja hat geschrieben:Linux part is ok but the setup stops working during network installation and configuration.

I have tried all possible options - acpi=off, irqpoll, noapic and their combinations.wolfbardo hat geschrieben: - try some of kernel parameters like acpi=on/ off:

Re: Problem with Dell OptiPlex 280
Hi,
you are using a driver from the driverpacks:
Dell often customize their chips, so you have to use the dell driver.
Place the dell driver in the preferred directory , run create_driver_links.py
and than try show_drivers.py again.
Now the dell driver should be selected.
If this is done - retry the OS Installation.

I have already tried official Dell drivers, DriverPack drivers and also drivers from unattended which work perfectly there.

opsi does nothing special with the drivers: They are copied to the hard disk an the path to the driver is added to the OEMDriverpath in the unattend.txt.also drivers from unattended which work perfectly there

Problem solved. Installation stopped working during network configuration, but I had to change video card driver instead. Now is everything working.
