Looks like this ended up being a DNS problem. The Vista slave was in a different network than the OPSI server, and thus couldn't resolve it. On a side note, where can I file a bug about this? :)

Hi bhearsum,
Looks like this ended up being a DNS problem.
If you using a service url with ip-number (like https://10.2.71.216:4447) there should be no
DNS Problem at the client side. The opsi server must me able to resolve the clients IP-Name.
So - after your server is now updated correctly - please give us again the
log files from c:\tmp
opsiclientd.log
instlog.txt

Re: OPSI 3.4 problems on Vista

Hi,

Code: Alles auswählen

[4] [Aug 25 12:08:24] [opsiclientd] Got product action requests from configservice (opsiclientd.pyo|3106)
[4] [Aug 25 12:08:24] [opsiclientd] No product action requests set (opsiclientd.pyo|3114)
Everything looks fine in this log.
If there is no action request the new opsiclientd sees no need to start the opsi winst.
So - is there still a problem ?

I'm still having a problem with license management. I want to turn it off, but editing the modules file causes it to be invalid.

The problem is that I want to turn it off, but I cannot, because of the modules file. I have no need for it, and therefore want to disable it.

Re: OPSI 3.4 problems on Vista

Beitrag von d.oertel »

Hi,

opsi 3.4 has two enhancements
1. Vista/Window 7 Support (opsiclientd mode)
(which was in fact released some month earlier)
2. License Management
Both enhancements are not free at the moment.

We don't want to make them closed source for ever but
release them under GPL until we earned the development costs.
This is done in a kind of cofunding project:
We sell the development costs in parts to interested users.
The Vista/windows 7 Support Module costs 2000 €.
The License Management Module costs 1000 €.

For the Vista/Windows 7 Support we have at the moment earned
about 70 % of the development costs so that we hope we can release it
before the end of this year under GPL.
But at first we need the complete money.

To control which part of the new enhancements a user may use,
the the /etc/opsi/modules file was integrated in opsi 3.4.
So - without a valid modules file you can't use the
Vista/Windows 7 or License Management Support.

If you want to use Vista/Windows7 (opsiclientd mode) you have to order it for the fee of 2000 € at info@uib.de
and you will get a personalized signed modules file with vista=true and no expiration date.
The other way is to wait until we can it release it for free........

If you want to use License Management you have to order it for the fee of 1000 € at info@uib.de
and you will get a personalized signed modules file with license_management=true and no expiration date.
The other way is to wait until we can it release it for free........

If you don't want to use any of this enhancements you may delete the modules file.
