bootimage lshw crash on virtualbox

Beitrag von SisterOfMercy »

I have a few testclients on virtualbox, but I can't reinstall them since a while, because of a crash.

Tried these bootimages:
opsi-linux-bootimage-20180208-1.2.noarch.rpm
opsi-linux-bootimage-20180621-1.1.noarch.rpm
opsi-linux-bootimage-20180314-5.1.noarch.rpm

It crashes when doing hardware inventory, there's something with lshw:

Code: Alles auswählen

CPU: 0 PID: 1011 Comm: lshw Not tainted 4.12.12 #10
Hardware name: innotek GmbH VirtualBox/VirtualBox, BIOS VirtualBox 12/01/2006
task: f5986800 task.stack:f6aca000
Call Trace: 11 to disk
? iounmap+0x93/0x9baudit
xlate_dev_mem_ptr+0x20/0x2a
etc

I've read some reports about lshw where an error like this was also happening on various sorts of hardware, and so it looks as if it is not limited to virtualbox.

What can uib do about this? I haven't got a clue.

Hi
can you try the 64bit bootimage?
I've had this issue on another client, but it was 'just' a warning and the installation completed successfully

cheers

Aha! I think it might be due to the combination of a FreeBSD host and VirtualBox. I think I also tried the 64-bit bootimage with the same result.

Anyway, a windows host with VirtualBox does seem to work fine. If you have seen it before and if it's a warning we can ignore it; IE, there is no big issue with lshw that crashes on various clients.
