Hi

today is the day you can try out the new opsi 4.0.7 bootimage
please only try this in a non productive environment.
This bootimage is experimental and not recommended to run on a productive setup

http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... erimental/

You also need to update your localboot packages to the current testing packages. The install wont success if you are on stable localboot packages.
This bootimage also has the hd audio drivers included.

pleasy reply if your hd audio device gets recognized in lshw

cheers
mathias

Unfortunately this didn't help... yet. There are some meaningful errors in kern.log, the sound card almost gets detected.
There is nothing being logged to dmesg, though.

Output of lshw

Around line 220 it gets interesting. The realtek on-board is indeed an ALC259, so it gets detected initially.

Re: HD-audio devices in show_drivers.py

Beitrag von m.radtke »

Well I just integrated some intel HD audio drivers.
I will try tweaking it a bit when I do some kernel stuff the next time.
Until then you can experiment with the experimental bootimage and report back ;)

PS: i strongly dislike Realtek hardware. The drivers are a pain in the a*s

Everybody does! It's just a bit hard to find a motherboard without a realtek audio chip. Most motherboards without any audio don't have DVI (etc) connections for processor graphics. And a normal 5V PCI slot for a sound card is often not available.
The cmedia cards which have a dogber1 driver available are great, when using an external DAC. The original drivers are really, really shite.
