New opsi 4.0.7 packages in Stable and Testing

Beitrag von m.scalese »

Dear opsi users,

Today we publish new packages in stable and testing.

As stable we publish (hotfix):
opsi-client-agent (4.0.7.7-4)

And as testing we publish:
opsi-client-agent (4.0.7.8-1)

Notice:
We publish two new opsi-client-agent packages today.

The package with the version 4.0.7.7-4 is based on the latest stable release. As there were issues reported that occurred, when a manual installation from the opsi-client-agent with the service_setup.cmd on a Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 system were performed.

Clients that have been set directly with opsi, are not affected. In the analysis it has been found that the new opsiclientd had a problem if no other agent was installed on the system. Since the error messages are not always the same (roughly is reported that a DLL could not be loaded) but always occurred with the register of services, it has been incorporated in the package with the version 4.0.7.7-4 a workaround that when installing on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, the opsiclientd 4.0.6 (Freezed for Windows NT5 Support) is used to register the service and then the 4.0.7 opsiclientd is installed. This workaround works safely in all variants and the result is an ongoing 4.0.7 client that works on all the supported operating system versions.

In addition to this workaround only minor additional changes to the setup script and the Deploy script been made that have no functional background, but were rather a bug fix and cosmetic changes, however, this package is released directly as a hotfix in Stable and thus skips the testing phase.

The opsi-client-agent with the version 4.0.7.8-1 includes a new opsiclientd, and in it were added fixes for the proxy support. This version is published as Testing. The above workaround is of course contained in this package and the behavior described above with the proxy solution should be also solved with the testing package.

As always, kind regards,
Martin Scalese
