Hello again!

I was wondering if you could help me a bit by pointing me in the right direction of how / where I would learn about editing the pxeboot and cd-boot splash screens and menus?

I in no way plan on taking away the opsi logo or anything that is showing that the app itself is built by you ...

How would i get this to happen?

should this be setup with wInst? or should I do this through a windows config file in the i386 install directory itself?

OK new issue
(I installed the server on different hardware, one without any SATA chips in it at all.)

when i boot from PXE it comes up fine BUT it says

"automatically booting from local hard disk in 0 seconds"

is this the PXE image? and how do i get this so that its default isn't 0 seconds but ...

above that, I noticed that it showed up as hdb1 and hdb2 where the CD-ROM and HD are attached / detected.

I am guessing I will need to edit a config file somewhere (probably multiple times) for this to work every time i restart it?

which file and where would be the next question if my guess above ...

When i boot up the server install CD this is what happens:

the CD portion itself runs fine. It installs it and then reboots the PC and looks to be fine.

after the reboot when it starts to load linux i get this:


begin: waiting for root filesystem... ...
Done.
Check root= bootarg cat /proc ...

are there any other required packages the bootimage will want for it to complete? or will preloginloader be the last?

OK the sun isn't out yet!!!


I just got an error about not having a preloginloader folder during the install....

I am going to create that folder, and look through the instruction manual a bit to see if i can find the stuff i need to do in there.

If it is as simple as just creating that folder ...

its installing XP as we speak.

One last question for you...

If i wanted to work on translating some of the program to english, (i'd like to start with the boot disk) where should I begin?

Of course it wont be excellent, as i would just translate word by word and try ...

when I run the boot CD i get this after I chose winxppro:

Open P Server Intergation

[ produkt: windows XP professional ]
[Binde epotserver-freigabe 'smb://opsidemo/opt_pcbin' unter 'mnt/opsi' ein]

All the above there is on the blue screen part

then the error is:

Ein Fehler it aufgetreten
Cannot ...

This is why im still a noob, I was using pcpatch instead of opsiconfd

time to see how the test VM goes with the install now that there is a package!

it's very hard to go through that boot CD you have since its only in german. but im getting there!
